Del Mar is two square miles along the Northern San Diego County coast, best known for its beaches, fairgrounds and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club "Where the turf meets the surf."

With beautiful sandstone canyons interspersed with hillsides of custom homes, and astonishing sunsets, Del Mar is a global destination point for visitors, vacationers and residents alike.

This town is well know for the race track and the San Diego County Fairgrounds. There are the balloon rides in the evening. It is walking distance to the beach and convenience shopping at "The Plaza". On Saturday afternoon, we have the farmers market near the City Hall and the library. The citizens of Del Mar are environmental conscious, wary of progress and protective of their quality of life. There are a lot of plant lovers and tree huggers here. The weather is perfect for outdoor walks or runs. The fresh air can do wonders. San Diego Zoo has the only Panda cub in this country.

There are 3 beaches in Del Mar. The dog beach is on the north side, by the race track, where Via de la Valle joins into Highway 101 ( Old Pacific Highway). The Torrey Pine State Beach is on the south side where Carmel Valley Road joins into Highway 101. The beach in the middle is close to the Post Office and the Plaza. Standing at the railroad tracks by my house, you can see the coast line south to La Jolla and north to Oceanside.
